The first with approximately 114 photographs including albumen, platinum, printing-out paper, gelatin silver, carbon, Woodburytype, collotype and variants. The majority with credit and/or title/date/number in the negative and titled on the mount. The second with approximately 170 photographs, the majority gelatin silver prints with descriptive text in ink on the mount. Red/burgundy leather, g.e.

Lot Essay

The majority of prints date from the late 1890s to 1910s. The first album includes several early albumen portraits, mostly cartes-de-visite, including one of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, dated 1861, taken by John Mayall. Other images include Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee (1897); the coronations of King Edward VII (1901) and King George V (1910); the funerals of Queen Victoria (1901), William Gladstone and King Edward VII (1910); and the visits of Prince Edward, King George and Queen Mary to France during WWI.
