Lot Essay

This is perhaps the earliest and arguably the purest flatware design created by Josef Hoffmann at the Wiener Werkstätte. As such it remains the starting point for most of the designs which follow including that made for Fritz Wärndorfer the founding patron and commercial director (see comparison of the two sets Neuwirth p. 30).
