A Derby cruet set
Circa 1765
Each piece of shouldered baluster form, named in dark-purple script within gilt scrolls cartouches above puce monochrome bouquets and scattered sprigs, comprising:
OIL, a flask with a plated cover (rim chip, crack to rim, rubbing)
VINAGER, a flask with a plated cover (cover stuck fast, crack to neck, rubbing)
MUSTARD, a pot with a plated cover with silver-gilt spoon (rim chip and crack, re-stuck chip to foot, rubbing)
PEPPER, a shaker with a fixed pierced dome (footrim chip, light rubbing and staining)
SUGAR, a castor with a fixed pierced dome (minor crack to edge of dome, light rubbing and staining)
the sugar castor 6in. (15cm.) high
with a turned wood stand (5)
