Note:
1. Chen Yuansu was a native of Changzhou, and his sobriquet names include Gubai and Zhenwen. He failed the provicial examinations in the thirty-fourth year of the Wanli era (1606). He was a good calligrapher and painter. For brief biography, see Zhongguo Meishujia Renming Cidian, Shanghai Renmin Meishu Chubanshe, 1981, p.991.
