Lot Essay

"Cabbed to Diane Von Furstenberg's ($4). I had a fight with the cab driver, he wanted to go the way he wanted to go. Richard wasn't invited but he was Catherine's date. The first person I ran into was Laverne of Laverne and Shirley, and we talked about the "L" painting I was going to do for her" (A. Warhol quoted in The Andy Warhol Diaries, Tuesday, March 18, 1990, New York, 1989, p. 272).
