FIVE CYPRIOT WHEELMADE RED WARE VESSELS
IRON AGE TO HELLENISTIC PERIOD, 9TH-1ST CENTURY B.C.
Comprising a 'Bucchero-style' jug with ring base, the short neck with pinched spout, the body with incised vertical ribbing and an encircling band of fine black lines around the shoulder, repaired, 6¾ in. (17.2 cm.) high; a jar similar, with wide neck and short everted rim, two vertical handles, the ribbed body tapered to small foot, 5½ in. (14 cm.) high, both Iron Age, 9th-5th Century B.C.; a Phoenician-style jug with carinated shoulder, the tall neck with wide everted rim, central boss within ring base, handle repaired, 7th Century B.C., 7¾ in. (19.7 cm.) high; and two Hellenistic red slip jugs with narrow neck and pinched spout, the ovoid body tapered to ring base, one with relief ring around base of neck, Early Hellenistic, 5 7/8 in. (15 cm.) high max. (5)
