A GROUP OF CYPRIOT WHEELMADE BLACK SLIP WARE VESSELS
CYPRO-GEOMETRIC, CIRCA 850-750 B.C.
Comprising a jar with twin vertical handles and wide neck, the round body decorated with vertical grooves tapered to small foot, 7¼ in. (18.4 cm.) high; another similar, the short wide neck with everted rim, 4 7/8 in. (12.5 cm.) high; two jugs with rounded bodies on ring base, the neck with pinched spout, 8 1/8 in. (20.7 cm.) and 9 in. (22.9 cm.) high respectively; six others similar, with decorative vertical grooves around the body, 5 to 8 5/8 in. (12.6 to 22 cm.) high; a small plain juglet, the short neck with everted rim, 2 5/8 in. (6.7 cm.) high; two hemispherical bowls on ring foot, each with twin cylindrical horizontal rim lugs, incised grooves running around the rim exterior, both 4¾ in. (12 cm.) diam.; and a Hellenistic grey ware bowl with vertical ribbing around the body and gently flaring narrow rim, 3rd-1st Century B.C., 2¾ in. (7 cm.) high, some with repair (14)
