A GROUP OF EUROPEAN BRONZE AND STONE AXEHEADS
4TH-1ST MILLENNIUM B.C.
Including a bronze axe head of elongated flaring form with curved cutting edge, flanged around the shaft hole which is collared above and below, with large disc-shaped butt, Bronze Age, 16th Century B.C., 7½ in. (19 cm.) long, from Hungary; a bronze palstave with crescentic cutting blade, wide flanges and side loop, 5¼ in. (13.5 cm.) long; a bronze socketed celt, the flaring blade swelling to a disc below the ribbed mouth, the faces decorated with incised and notched patterns, 3 5/8 in. (9.3 cm.) long; eight other bronze socketed celts with side loops, two with ribbed decoraton, 4 7/8 in. (12.5 cm.) long max., all Bronze Age, 2nd-early 1st millennium B.C.; and a group of stone implements including three grey stone axe heads, with pointed butts, 7¼ in. (18.4 cm.) long max.; three stone ovals with deep central groove, 2½ in. (6.4 cm.) long max.; and four flattened pierced discs or weights, 4 1/8 in. (10.5 cm.) diam. max., all circa 4th-3rd millennium B.C.; and a deer antler with notched marks down one side, repaired(a lot)
