A ROMAN BRONZE REPOUSSÉ PLAQUE WITH A HORSEMAN
CIRCA 2ND CENTURY A.D., POSSIBLY DANUBIAN
Decorated with a naked standing figure of one of the Dioskouroi (Castor or Pollux) wearing a pilos headdress over wavy hair, holding back a spirited horse by the reins, the horse's left foreleg raised high in the air, in profile to the right, the edge with rivet holes for attachment, two rivets remaining holding an iron strap on the reverse, perhaps a chariot fitting
