FIVE OLD BABYLONIAN CUNEIFORM CLAY TABLETS
CIRCA 2000-1700 B.C.
Comprising a mathematical tablet, with 23 lines, listing the multiplication table for 8, using Sumerian sexagesimal numerals, cracked and repaired, circa 2000-1700 B.C., 2½ x 1 5/8 in. (6.4 x 4.3cm.); another with 16 lines, listing the multiplication table for 50, using Sumerian sexagesimal numerals, cracked and repaired, circa 2000-1700 B.C., 2 3/8 x 1½ in. (6.2 x 3.9 cm.); another, 20 lines of text, listing the smaller units of length, the 'finger' and the 'cubit', the list records that there are 30 'fingers' in a 'cubit' and 10 of a smaller unit comprises a 'finger', the name of this smaller unit has broken away, but it could possibly have been 'barleycorn', cracked and repaired, circa 2000-1700 B.C., 3 1/8 x 2 7/8 in. (8.3 cm. x 5 cm.); a complete administrative tablet, 5 lines of text, concerned with barley measures and listing the last day of the month, possibly a monthly barley record, circa 1900-1700 B.C., 1 11/16 x 1.1in. (2.9 x 4.4 cm.); and a tablet with 1 line of text on each side, comprising a woman's name, "sa-at-En.Dir.Kas", "sa-at" meaning "she of", small chip, circa 2000-1700 B.C., 1 3/8 x 7/8 in.
