The case mid-18th Century, the movement and dial first quarter 18th Century
The hood with rosette-carved caps to a swan-neck pediment with shell cresting, cushion-moulded friezes carved in low relief with scrolls and centred by a leopard mask, with outset fluted columns and conforming rear slats, with wavy arched trunk door flanked by fluted pilasters, the plinth with raised panel with concave-cut corners and on ogee bracket feet, the 13½in. square cut-away brass dial with engraved borders to its edge and around the chapter ring, cherub and coronet spandrels to a Roman and Arabic chapter ring signed Marshall Dublin, with elaborate half hour and cross half quarter hour markers, the matted centre with engraved border, subsidiary silvered seconds ring (lacking hand), with ringed winding holes and conforming frame to the circular date aperture, foliate scroll engraving, the four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on bell; case associated to movement and dial
