A FOUR-PIECE SILVER BACHELOR'S TEA SERVICE**
Marked Tiffany & Co., by William Bogert, circa 1865; the waste bowl by William Gale, 1860-1865
Similar to the previous lot, comprising: teapot, cream jug, covered sugar bowl and waste bowl, each globular body engraved with floral swags, the rim engraved with a border of repeating arches.

Lot Essay

The mark on this tea service indicates that it was made by William Bogert for Tiffany & Co. circa 1865. Bogert replaced Grosjean & Woodward as the major supplier of high end silver to Tiffany & Co. before the firm began producing its own silver in 1869.
