Lot Essay

According to family tradition, this dressing table was brought to "Fairview," the home near Monkton, Maryland that Antonio Remare purchased for his son, Richard L. Remare. It was brought there from Baltimore, where the Remare family owned several businesses. A very similar table is illustrated in Nutting, Furniture Treasury (New York, reprint 1972) p. 417. Nutting notes the presence of four such dressing bureaus with Maryland histories.
