Each in the form of a winged-putto with arms outstretched holding two flaming torch-form candelarms, on a marble drum base with further square plinth, two nozzle sheaths replaced

Lot Essay

A nearly identical model of candelabra but with white marble bases are in the Wallace Collection, London and are illustrated in P. Hughes, The Wallace Collection Catalogue of Furniture, vol. III, 1996, p. 1282, fig's. 253 (F152 and F153). A pair attributed by Ottomeyer and Pröschel to André-Antoine Ravrio (1759-1814, maître 1777), but with running putti and Empire style pedestals is in the Residenz, Munich (P. Hughes, op.cit., p.1282).
