The porcelain 18th century, interlaced L's mark, the decoration possibly 19th century
Of serpentine oval form with crenelated rim, the shell handles extending up each end, finely painted on both sides with exotic birds in landscape vignettes reserved on the turquoise ground within a gilt ciselé cartouche of oak vine with acorns, the lower portion as a log issuing roots, gilt line rim
11½in. (29.2cm.) long overall
