Blue interlaced L's enclosing date letter U for 1773, painter's mark for Méreaud l'aîné, incised M and with other indecipherable marks
Painted in the style of Chantilly with a putto in clouds emblematic of Love and with a trophy emblematic of Astronomy, each reserved within a gilt ciselé quatrelobed cartouche on the blue trellis ground with gilt dots at each intersection, the foot with concentric gilt and blue-line-and-gilt-dash bands
