Lot Essay

Carl Dauterman, in his catalogue of The Wrightsman Collection, described the present piece as a 'Tray for a Dressing Table'. It is similar to a Plateau de roi but with lobed ends. See Linda H. Roth and Clare Le Corbeiller, Eighteenth Century French Porcelain in the Wadsworth Atheneum, The J.P. Morgan Collection, Hartford, 2000, no. 85 for a virtually identically decorated déjeuner also with date letter G and painter's marks for Taillandier.
