Circa 1900, printed green uppercase marks to cover and base, gilt script N to base, signed S. Alcock
Each with fluted cover, neck and socle, painted in muted tones with a bust-length portrait of a beauty, within a scalloped surround, reserved on the gold resist ground painted with meandering rose briar, flanked by beaded loop handles, on conforming foot

Lot Essay

Samuel Alcock was noted as a painter of muted and delicate figures in both classical and contemporary dress on elaborately 'jewelled' and gilded dessert wares. He was employed by W.T. Copeland from the 1880's to the early 20th century.
