With curved scroll handles, finely painted front and back with a lush bouquet flanked by raised gilt acanthus suspending bellflowers, above a strapwork reserve, the socle with embossed roses above a spreading circular foot

Albert Gregory joined Derby at Ormaston Road in the 1890's. Reknowned for his naturalistic flower painting, his name became synonymous with the large cabbage roses (The Gregory Rose) which dominate his compositions.
