See Angela Caròla-Perrotti, et al., Le Porcellane dei Borbone di Napoli, Naples, 1986, no. 386 for a sugar-bowl and cover of similar form to the present example, showing the eagle finial here lacking (only its talons remain); also no. 390 for a part service decorated with similar birds. According to Angela Caròla-Perrotti, this decoration is based on images found in The Ladies Amusement, a source also used at Capodimonte. Inventories made at the time the factory closed note over 276 sheets of such designs in poor condition due to use.
