Circa 1740, blue crossed swords mark, indistinct Pressnummer to bowl, gilder's B to both
The bowl painted with a continuous battle scene on a riverbank with tents, foot-soldiers and soldiers mounted on horseback, the foreground with a large pile of canon balls, a canon, flag, drum and barrels to the right of the battle, the middle ground with a mounted soldier firing his pistol in pursuit of another, the river to the left with two figures in a rowing boat before dilapidated buildings on the other bank, above an iron-red double line border, the shallow domed cover with two scenes of mounted soldiers at discussion about a gilt bud finial
