A MEISSEN TURQUOISE-GROUND LARGE SUGAR-BOWL AND COVER
Circa 1740, blue crossed swords mark, Pressnummer 10, traces of gilt 65., gilt 65. to cover
The ground of the bowl between gilt band borders and reserved with gilt and dark-brown line quatrefoil ogival cartouches, one side with figures observing ships from a quayside, the other with a gallant on horseback by a peasant-boy carrying a basket before a distant village in a river-landscape, the shallow-domed cover with a gilt branch finial applied with coloured flowers and flanked by pastoral and quayside scenes within two similar cartouches
