The artist was employed in the offices of Sir John Rennie for whom he acted as resident architect or clerk of the works for the construction of Plymouth Breakwater and of London Bridge. He exibited at the Royal Academy from 1807 onwards, his drawings including a plan and elevation of the elder Rennie's Southwark Bridge (1822), and the works of the new London Bridge in progress as they appeared in August 1827 (1832).
