The original Dagmar Cross, the Byzantine relic of the True Cross, was discovered in the tomb of the Consort of Waldemar II of Denmark, Queen Dagmar, who was buried in Ringsted Cathedral in 1212. It was popularised in the 19th century when a copy was given as a wedding gift from the King of Denmark to Princess Alexandra in 1863.
