16o (114 x 94 mm). Four original designs, comprising: an ornamental half-title and a small panel with the initials ST and RW, both in ink; an elaborate title-page in ink and wash, lettered within a rococco border with the masks representing Comedy and Tragedy and a trophy of musical instruments incorporating the initials S and R; and a pencil sketch of the proposed theater. Contemporary cloth, the upper cover with large gilt ornament lettered within the oval center compartment "S from R," flowers growing from two cornucopia added by Whistler in green ink. Provenance: Anonymous owner (Sotheby's London, 12 December 1991, lot 238).

This book is item 301 in Laurence Whistler's catalogue. It was probably started soon after Stephen Tennant commenced his improvements to Wilsford Manor. The project was abandoned, possibly after Stephen became ill and Rex stopped spending as much time there.
