Rectangular black composition box with rounded corners and concave sides, the cover centred by a glazed circular miniature depicting Louis XVIII (1755-1824), King of France 1814/15-1824, facing right in blue uniform with gold epaulettes, white stock with lace cravat, decorated with the blue moiré sash and silver breast-star of the Royal French Order of the Holy Ghost, and the badges of the Royal French Orders of the Legion of Honour and St Louis, within a reeded gold mount, narrow gold rims, scrolling foliate gold thumbpiece
