by Pierre-André Montauban (fl. 1800-1822), marked, with the excise and third standard marks for gold, Paris 1809-1819, and with the Parisian unoffical post-Revolutionary third standard mark for gold, later struck with two Parisian post-1838 restricted warranty marks for gold, the gold coin by Andrieux, signed with initials, circa 1810
Octagonal flecked dark tortoiseshell box, the cover centred by a glazed oval réverbère gold medallion enclosing a circular gold coin of Princess Pauline Borghese (1780-1825), in profile to the left, her curly hair tied in a bun, cast with inscription in Greek 'Pauline sister of the Emperor', the reverse of the coin cast with the Three Graces and inscription in Greek 'Beautilful shall be our Queen', the obverse within an oval broad gold border stamped with scrolling foliage surrounded by a narrow blue enamel fillet, the interior gold-lined, narrow gold thumbpiece
