Circular box, the independent cover and base set with malachite panels, the lid centred by an oval glazed enamel miniature depicting Henri IV of Navarra (1553-1610), King of France 1589-1610, with grey hair, moustache and beard, wearing a white ruff, black doublet and cloak with the ribbon and jewel of the Royal French Order of the Holy Ghost, within a gold mount stamped with stylized acanthus and bordered by a blue enamel fillet, the borders of cover and base identically decorated, the sides engine-turned with a pattern of small concentrical circles with stylized quatrefoils at the intersections, within blue enamelled taille d'épargne borders of anthemia and stylized flowerheads
