Lying in Gloucestershire at Christie's designated warehouse, (Octavian)
Château Mouton-Rothschild--Vintage 1961
Pauillac, 1er cru classé. Château-bottled
Excellent appearance. Level into neck
Tasting note: At its best the wine is a great Mouton. Huge, cedary, cassis, lead pencil, menthol-like aroma soared from the glass. The black purple color revealed no signs of lightning or amber at the edge. Full-bodied, rich and superintense, this was a profound bottle of 1961 Mouton that would have stood up against the compelling 1959. Last tasted, 3/98. Robert Parker. Bordeaux. A Comprehensive Guide, 3rd Edition.
1 jeroboam per lot
