Château d'Yquem--Vintage 1967
Sauternes, 1er grand cru classé
Levels: eight bottom neck or better and four very top shoulder; Mahogany color
"Superb. Very high sugar content and extract. Sweet and immensely rich from first tasting in 1964 to the most recent. The last six notes very consistent. Fairly deep amber gold, very bright; beautiful bouquet variously described as heavenly creme brulee, vanilla, duck-egg custard! Creamy, honeyed, whiff of Cox's orange pippins and charred oak, with enormous depth and more to yield. Always sweet, full-bodied, powerful, masculine (as opposed to the more feminine '53), touch of caramel and black treacle, luscious yet could do with even more time in bottle." GVWB
