"The 1996 had been bottled several months before my visit. A blend of 91 Cabernet Sauvignon, 6 Cabernet Franc, and 3 Petit Verdot, there are 2,200 cases. A superb example, it suffers only because it follows what appears to be a modern day legend - the 1995. The 1996 boasts a saturated purple color, and a moderately intense nose of black fruits intermixed with blueberries, spice, iron, and earthy notes. Dense and structured, with more noticeable tannin than the 1995 or 1994 possess, it is a brooding, massive Cabernet Sauvignon with outstanding long-term potential.
