A SICILIAN FIGURAL ASKOS
Classical Period, Circa Mid 5th Century B.C.
In the form of Acheloös, the cylindrical animal-form vessel with four looped legs, the narrow tapering spout above the once-looping tail, with a double handle in the center of the back, the mouth of the vessel forming the neck of the figure, with the opening behind his bearded horned head, details in red pigment including ivy along the neck, dots below
