Circa Mid to Late 1st Century B.C.
The oval stone engraved with a portrait of a man in profile to the right, his thick, muscular neck with a pronounced laryngeal prominence or "adam's apple," his hair closely-cropped, with a heavy brow, a large eye, somewhat hooked nose, and pointed chin; mounted as a ring in an 18K gold setting, hallmarked J.W.B., Birmingham, dated 1896
