A ROMAN ROCK CRYSTAL AND GOLD FISH PENDANT
Circa 1st-3rd Century A.D.
The tapering body with fanning tail, the details incised, including circular eyes and straight mouth, a curved groove and short lines marking the gills, the pectoral fins depicted with hatching along the sides of the body, wavy lines along the tail, a band of gold sheet around the lower portion of the body, burnished to conform to engraved lines for the fins, three drilled dots along the upper and lower edges, the fish perforated through the corner of the mouth for suspension
