AN OLD BABYLONIAN HAEMATITE CYLINDER SEAL
Circa 1900-1700 B.C.
With four standing figures, the sun god Shamash on the right, with a long beard, wearing a horned tiara and a long flounced robe, one foot on a foot-stool, a saw in his right hand, a bearded worshipper facing him wearing a brimmed hat and a fringed robe open at the front, holding a kid in his arms, behind him a Lama goddess in a horned tiara and a long flounced robe, with both arms raised, and a priest in a short kilt, holding a bucket and a sprinkler, a combined lunar crescent and solar disk in the sky, the terminal a four-line inscription in Babylonian cuneiform naming the owner "Iqishum, son of Ilum-bani, servant of (the god) Nin-shubur and (the god) Shamash"
