Questo arazzo appartiene a un gruppo tessuto ad Anversa appositamente per il mercato inglese. Le Metamorfosi di Ovidio costituivano parte sostanziale di questa produzione. Molti di questi soggetti non sono stati ancora completamente identificati. In Inghilterra esistevano numerosi arazzi di tale soggetto e quasi nessuno recava la firma del tessitore pertanto si credette a lungo che essi fossero stati tessuti esclusivamente in Inghilterra. Alcuni esemplari hanno delle firme rivelanti e sono ricollegabili all'altelier dei Wauters. Attraverso anche dei documenti letterari si è dimostrato che molti di essi erano in effetti tessuti ad Anversa.
