RICHARD BLOME (d. 1705)

Britannia: or, a Geographical Description of the Kingdoms of England, Scotland and Ireland, with the isles and territories thereto belonging, London: Thomas Roycroft for Richard Blome, 1673. 2° (357 x 220mm.). Title printed in red and black, 24 plates on 12 sheets with 807 hand-coloured engraved coats-of-arms, 50 hand-coloured engraved maps, some folding. (Map of Buckinghamshire with short marginal tear, folding map of Ireland with short tear along fold, occasional light mainly marginal browning, a few spots). Contemporary mottled calf, spines gilt in compartments with red morocco lettering-piece (joints splitting, rubbed and scuffed). Provenance: Mountagu Garrard Drake of Sharddois (armorial bookplate on verso of title); John Walter (later pencil inscription on front pastedown).
