Double-page engraved title, 10 hand-coloured double-page engraved plates of globes, hemispheres and diagrams including double-hemisphere map of the World, 43 hand-coloured double-page engraved maps within ornamental engraved borders, 4 folding maps at the end, one loosely inserted. (A few marginal tears, some light mainly marginal spotting and staining, one plate repaired on verso). Contemporary calf-backed boards, red morocco lettering-piece (heavily rubbed). Provenance: early manuscript list of maps tipped onto front free endpaper. cf. Phillips Atlases 640; and another French book. (2)
