Lot Essay

By repute this cabinet was acquired in the 19th century through the Bergvliet Estate, Cape Town and bears some similarities to a cabinet on stand in the Groote Schuur Palace, Cape Town as illustrated in Philida Brooke Simons' book 'Great Granary to Stately Home', 1996.
