Leitz used the grey hammered-paint finish on an extremely limited number of M camera bodies and it is the rarest of all Leica body finishes. It has been recorded on the Canadian made Leica MS; Leica MD nos. 1102501-1102510 shipped to Leitz Canada in October 1964. It was also used for the Leica 16 prototype of 1963. A Leica M2 Betriebsk no. M2-2000 was shown in Camera Review. All About Historical Cameras. no. 63, front cover and pp. 16-17.
