AN IMPORTANT AND RARE PAIR OF ITALIAN SILVER RIMMONIM
Maker's mark A.M. and Town mark a coronet (unidentified), Italy, circa 1700
Of architectural form, each Rimmon consists of seven detachable parts, set on low domed and floral moulded base, the tapering stem with floral panels and scrolling strap work, the baluster body decorated with further stylised floral design and applied acanthus leaves below, the hexagonal upper part with two cast galleries with baluster pillars and floral scrolls suspending with baluster pendants (some missing), the lower gallery with further suspending baluster pendants and hung with six cone shaped bells each on fine link floral chain (one missing, one partly missing), behind the lower gallery with arched doors, the upper part with hexagonal floral spire, with applied engraved leaves each suspending with further baluster pendants, two-handled vase of flowers finial, each clearly marked on lower part of body, hexagonal body and hexagonal spire

Please note that these Rimmonim are from the late 17th century and were produced in Venice by the 17th century maker A.M (pazzi p.66 nr.46). The coronet is the mark of a Ventian workshop active between the 16th and 18th century (Pazzi p.154 nrs 495, 496 and 497 all variants).
