ENGLISH, NINETEENTH CENTURY
the handle formed as two coiled serpents, the stepped base with bloodstone matrix engraved with a coat of arms and motto
The arms are those of Bower quatering others impaling Whitaker for Thomas Bower Esq. of Iwerne House, Co. Dorset (1771-1840) and his wife Harriet (d.1841), daughter of Walter Whitaker Esq, whom he married in 1792.
