An ivory and boxwood okimono of two figures playing
late 19th Century
both wearing robes decorated in silver and gold hiramakie, one holding a fan, drumsticks at his feet, a drum to one side part decorated in nashiji and shell, the other man holding a pierced cylindrical ball catcher in one hand, a ball in the other, further balls on the ground within a basket and loose -- 8in. (20.3cm.) high, standing on a shaped wooden base, (attached ivory pipe case and tobacco pouch missing to reverse of one figure, small repairs to ball catcher, age crack to one end of drum).
