A four-case inro
signed in gold hiramakie on the base Kogyokusai, 19th Century
decorated in gold and silver iroe hiramakie, takamakie, kimpun and black lacquer on a kinji ground, with a monkey-tamer (sarumawashi) on one side, holding a chord attached to his tame monkey dancing in front of a Noh dancer, the details inlaid with ivory, the interiors in nashiji, metal ojime modelled as twin masks, wood netsuke carved as a monkey-tamer with monkey on his shoulder, the inro -- 3¼in. (8.3cm.) high, (chips to upper chord holes, light wear).
