signed Kaji Kawa in gold hiramakie on the underside, 19th Century
decorated in gold hiramakie, takamakie and scattered nashiji on a kinji ground, with a prunus tree before a mountainous and moonlit landscape, the interiors in gyobu nashiji, pierced gilt-metal oval ojime, ivory netsuke of a crab within a large lotus leaf, the inro -- 3½in. (9cm.) high, (lower section with damage to inner edge, light rubbing).
