An export six fold screen
19th century
painted in sumi and colour on paper in the style of the Momoyama Period, depicting a Portuguese ship with numerous gentlemen on board and climbing the rigging before a further large Oriental sailing ship with gentlemen on deck and seated beneath a covered canopy, all below stylised scrolling clouds -- each panel 39in. x 25in. (99cms x 63.5cms), (surface wear, rubbing and light soiling).
