A Longton Hall melon-box, four covers and a leaf-moulded dish
Circa 1758
The box and covers naturally modelled and coloured in vibrant green and yellow with a network of brown veins, the covers with stalk and leaf finials (the box with an extended star-crack to base, the covers with finials partly lacking and chipped), the box 3 in. (7.5 cm.) wide; the hexagonal dish painted with a bouquet and scattered flower-sprays, the border moulded with six green-edged, puce-veined leaves (half of one leaf lacking from rim; two stalks chipped; two large chips to rim and a crack), 8½ in. (21.5 cm.) wide (6)
