A Sevres coffee-can and saucer (gobelet litron et soucoupe)
1788, puce and blue interlaced Ls enclosing date letters LL and painter's mark 9. for Charles-Nicolas Buteux (active 1763-1801), incised 41 to can and 40 to saucer
Painted with garlands of flowers suspended from gilt studs and flanked by swags of gilt foliage on a seeded gilt foliage on a seeded gilt ground, below a band of blue ribbon and scrolling gilt foliage ornament, between mauve bands with white, yellow and grey jewelled ornament, the centre of the saucer with a bouquet
