A LOUIS XVI ORMOLU-MOUNTED AND BRASS-INLAID MAHOGANY COMMODE
Attributed to Claude-Charles Saunier En suite with the preceding lot, the rounded eared grey-veined white marble rectangular top above two frieze drawers, each centred by a lozenge panel, above two long panelled drawers treated sans traverse, the angles with engaged turned stop-fluted columns with chandelles, on turned tapering legs with pinched tops and gardrooned collars, on cone feet, with 18th 19th Century label inscribed in ink '79', inscribed in chalk on the reverse 'A D ROOM', the legs with later temporary metal strengtheners, the back-right leg spliced, the back-left leg tipped, the centre of one handle associated

Almost certainly bought by John Alexander, 4th Marquess of Bath (1831-1896) for Longleat, Wiltshire and by descent at Longleat.
