A William IV silver-gilt inkstand
Mark of Edward Barnard Jr., John Barnard and William Barnard, London 1833
Shaped oblong, on four floral and foliate scroll feet, the stand with cast and chased floral and foliate scroll borders, with pen-well, the raised centre applied with similar borders and with three fittings, comprising a cut-glass ink-pot and sander, each with silver-gilt mount and pierced cover with scalloped floral and foliate border, and a fixed bombé holder, engraved with a crest, the cover formed as a taperstick, with floral and foliate stem, thumbpiece and conical snuffer attached by a chain, marked on base of stand, also engraved with scratchweight 722=32.3=Lge; covers and collars of glass pots, bezel and snuffer of taperstick
